United Lounge, The Kobayashi Maru

This was a training exercise in the fictional Star Trek universe designed to test the character of Starfleet Academy cadets in a no-win scenario.

Seems like that is what happens with UNITED; from changing of rules with the FF programs, seating assignments, baggage rules to something as simple as getting a one-use club room pass.

The club rooms at Newark Airport are closed to all guests that have single entrance pass privileges.  Not fair!  My client signed up for a credit card with a bank card company and was promised two free clubroom passes. One also could have gotten the passes if one was inconvenienced from some other United experience.  In any case, because the lounges at UNITED are under renovation (and have been for the last 3 months),m=  you are not permitted to use them.

My client was notified she got two new passes in October when renewing her credit card.  The email said they would be redeemable online on the UNITED APP.  This was announced in October ( no longer using paper) and they were just placed in my client's Frequent Flyer account today. Take a look at my clients passes.

Notice the validity dates: Valid November 2017 to November 2018, and the approval arrives in January 2018.  If that is not bad enough, the lounges at Newark will not accept these until the renovations are complete – perhaps in June or summer of 2018.

I think this is a bit unfair and show some poor planning on the part of United.   What do you think, is this any way to reward your customers?  Shouldn’t the card be extended without having to ask?  Kobayashi Maru on you.
