We are often asked, “What is different about Summit’s virtual meetings?” The answer is many things. However, here is just one example of how we go the distance to ensure the success of our clients’ meetings.

Last week, in preparation for an international virtual Investigator Meeting, we recorded the entire six hours of dress rehearsal with presenter video and slides. Because the meeting would be broadcast to several Eastern European countries, it was important to be able to properly familiarize our virtual medical interpreters with the materials they would be translating.

Since we recorded the dry run, we were able to share not only a written outline of the presentations with our translator,s but a complete visual of the entire presentation including the slides, a complete introduction to the presenters, the way they present, and their use of syntax and cadence. This is a big step toward ensuring excellent communications to an audience whose second language is English.

The individual modules gave our translators over 36 hours to get used to the presenters’ pronunciation, syntax, and cadence; a sure way to they get the proper “medical” terms and their delivery down pat. When you’re dealing with languages as diverse as Russian, Romanian, Japanese, Chinese, etc., attention to detail like this can often make important differences in the audience’s understanding and knowledge retention..
